What is popular culture, and what does it mean to you? When I read this question many ideas came to mind, from technology to fashion icons and everything in between. I would answer this question by saying it is a way of life. Popular culture shows us as a people how to dress, how to act, and even what to eat. We look to the celebrities to see how to be more like them, more glamorous, more noticeable. Everyone has an idol, whether you idolize Lady Gaga for her sense of uniqueness or Beyoncé for her female swag. As a people we all idolize someone for one reason or another.
Why is an understanding of popular culture relevant to you in a business environment and in your present and future career?
In a business environment, people should not be so consumed with popular culture expect for the technical aspect. The technology that we have now with text messaging, Skype, and 3G networks with numerous applications available on our cellphone, these things can enhance your business, Making many business acquisitions available right there in our palms. As a stay-at-home mother, I have to know what my children are being introduced to.
What would you consider to be an example of a pop culture artifact? And why would you choose it?
My pop culture artifact is Michael Jackson, the King of Pop. I believe that in out world he was someone to look up to. So many artists would say that he was their Idol. Michael Jackson came from such a harsh childhood and grew up to be loved by all, regardless of their nationality, ethnicity or background. Michael Jackson is truly pop culture.
Yes, you are right he was the King of Pop. He is also greatly missed of all ages, and not just Americans. He was a great singer but sure did not things in his life that I would not have done. For instance hold a child by his feet over a balcony. I don't like heights so I don't go out on balconies. But his entire family are very talented. And he is surely missed by all.

Not only is Michael Jackson a pop artifact, he is also a worldwide icon. From his white glove to his moon walk dance, Miachel Jackson has stood the test of time. In addition, his music has touched the lives of many, including those from various nationalities. With this, he toured around the world in hopes of touching the lives of many people. Since his death, Michael Jackson is still living through many and will continue on as a popular artist and icon.
